What is the
L KBS
Laurentians Kids Book Share
As a book loving Anglophone family living in the Laurentians, we were disappointed to discover that a number of libraries in the Laurentians have few or no English books, not to mention English children's books!
So we decided to solve that problem ourselves: We have created an online book sharing library which is free for anyone who wants to borrow, lend and read heaps of scrumdidiliumptious books for children and teens of all ages!
Of course we would never limit this to just an English library... if you would like to post books that are French, Spanish, Mandarin, braille, Morse code or literally any other language please feel free! (especially the morse code one)
yours truly,
Founders of the LKBS

How it works
So, you live in the Laurentians and you want a certain book, and it's not in any of the nearby libraries. Maybe because it's in English? But then...Your friends tell you about the LKBS!
With an LKBS account (which is 100% free) all you have to do is:
1) Search our site for the book you want.
2) Book the book (no pun intended).
3) Come pick it up at the address sent to you.*
4) Enjoy the book.
5) And please return it when you're done (before the selected date).
*The address will be sent after you "book the book". It will be somewhere in the Laurentians, but if it's too far for you, you can always cancel your booking and find a book that's closer :)

Creating an account is probably the most complicated step... but it's not hard to do, simply follow these step by step instruction and, if you have any questions please write to us using the contact form at the bottom of the page.
1. Either fill in the form below or send us an email with your NAME, EMAIIL ADDRESS and POSTAL CODE - Please Send these details to laurentianskbs@gmail.com We will try to respond to you within 24 hours.
2. We will subscribe you as a user to the Laurentian Kids Book Share. This is done using a platform called Lend-Items. An email will be sent to you by Lend-Items for you to verify this subscription . This email will include a unique link. if you don’t receive this verification email within 24 hours , first check your spam or junk folder and then contact us again so we can see if there is a problem.
3. Once you receive the verification email Click on the link and it will give you 4 options to authenticate (Lend items, Google, Facebook and Yahoo ) When you click on the Lend items option for authentication you will be asked to choose a password and to re-type it to confirm your subscription (see picture to the right >>>)
4. Once you enter and re-type a password you will be brought straight to the Lend-items dashboard associated with the LKBS. You should see ‘Laurentian Kids Book Share’ as the title. Once you are signed up you can also go direct to this page by going to https://lend-items.appspot.com and signing up with your email and the password you chose at step 3
5. You are now ready to browse the Laurentian Kids Book share library - Enjoy the library!

Lending a book
Hello there,
Thank you sooo much for agreeing to post a book! We really appreciate it :)
Here are the instructions on how to do it:
1) Chose a book. Make sure it's a book that you are willing to lend to others.
2) Enter information about the book. We suggest using the ISBN autofill function provided. By entering only the ISBN number or scanning the bar code found at the bottom of the back of the book, the site will fill in all the information you need.
3) Add an age suggestion to help people find your book.
4) Fill in the name of the Town or Village you live in.
5) Select "save item". your book is now posted.
6) Go to settings, scroll down to "Custom settings" and then enable the check box next to "Send me email notifications about Users item bookings".
7) Continue your everyday life until someone decides to book your book.
8) You will receive an email notification when someone books your book.
9) Send the booker an email telling them your address so that they can come pick up the book. You can do this by searching their name in the "manage users" section of the site. Next select "Actions" then "send email".
10) Leave the book in a pick-up-able place (ex. your doorstep). We suggest putting it in something waterproof (a ziplock?) but this step is really up to you. We are still working out this system and what works best.
11) The booker will come pick up the book and return it before the due date (note: if they forget to return the book it is up to you to remind them, and lending books is at your own (your books'?) risk).
12) Do this with as many books as you want.
Borrowing a book
Last but not least, borrowing a book is probably the most important thing for you to know how to do when using the library.

5) Wait for the owner of the book to send you their address.
6) When you receive the address you can go pick up the book (note: If the book is to far away for your convenience please write back to the owner to tell them that you will not be picking it up).
7) Pick up the book outside the owners house.
8) Enjoy the book!
9) Return the book when you are finished with it (before the due date).
Instructions:
1) Switch to "User panel". you can do this by clicking on the "+" next to your avatar in the top left corner and selecting "switch to user panel"
2) Choose your book. If you already know what book you're looking for then all you have to do is search for it. Otherwise, feel free to browse our vast selection of books until you find what you want. When you find the book select "book it".
3) Use the Calendar to select how long you would like to borrow your book for.
4) Select "Book it" again and then "OK". Your book is now booked.
